Myth #1. Bald men are less virile.

As you should know DHT is the main cause of Hair Loss. DHT is also the main force behind male sexuality therefore it’s actually the opposite. Check our page here with bodybuilder testimonials!

Myth #2. Wearing Caps and Hats can cause hair loss.

Unless you are wearing a cap that is tight enough to block your blood circulation to your hair follicles, wearing cap has nothing to do with hair loss. Ask yourself, how many baseballs players or golf players have hair loss?

Myth #3. Regular haircuts make your hair grow faster and thicker:

False. Getting frequent haircuts is a good way to keep existing hair healthy by removing damaged, split ends, but haircuts have no effect on your hair’s growth rate or thickness.

If shave my hair bald it will grow back thicker. Yes it will appear thicker at first because the base of your hair is always thicker than the tip! But you will not notice any difference when it grows back to full length.

Myth #4. Standing with your heads down will improve your hair loss.

Some people say that if your stand with your heads down you can actually improve the blood flow to your head which in turns gives your scalp better blood circulation. Don’t even bother, there is no evidence that it can actually grow hair! It’s best you try some supplements to improve your blow circulation instead.

Myth #5. Styling your hair can cause hair loss.

One of the more common hair loss myths. Well, there is some truth in it. Normal styling of your hair won’t cause your hair to fall but certain hair styles like corn rows and tight ponytails can cause traction alopecia which is a kind of hair loss.

Myth #6. How about styling products like hair sprays and coloring?

These types of products might cause some damage to your hair strands but it does not affect the hair follicles below your scalp so it will not cause hair loss. While they have the potential to damage hair, they do not affect hair follicles or hair growth cycles. Harsh chemicals like relaxers, however, can damage hair follicles.

Myth #7. Will hair dryers and blowers blow off my hair then?

Hmmm..that depends. Unless you are using hurricane class hair blowers they can only cause brittleness and hair breaks if it’s too dry or hot. Besides that, it’s pretty safe. Though it’s recommended to use it at a normal distance.

Myth #8. Insufficient Vitamins can cause hair loss.

Partly true. A lot of people out there with the right diet have hair loss. However, malnourishment, poor health and certain vitamin deficiencies can alleviate hair loss.
Certain vitamins like zinc, biotin and DHT blockers can actually improve your hair loss conditions. Find out more here!

Myth #9. Washing my hair too regularly is bad for the hair.

Your hair care products do not harm your hair follicles. You can wash as many times as you like but it’s recommended to wash your hair 3 times a week. Also try to use normal amounts while washing your hair.

Myth #10. Lack of sex causes hair loss.

There is no evidence indicating that lack of sexual activities will cause your hair to fall nor will it grow faster with the increase in sex.

Myth #11. The direction of the way you sleep determines how much hair you will lose.

No matter at what direction you sleep..straight..sideways and with your face down it will not increase your hair loss. It’s all about the inner workings of your hair follicles in your body.

Myth #12. Medications and steroids can cause hair loss:

True. While medications and steroids might not cause hair loss for someone who isn’t genetically predisposed to hair loss, both can exacerbate balding tendencies in someone who’s genetically susceptible. Various medications such as certain anti-depressants, birth control, and antineoplastic drugs have hair loss listed as a possible side effect, but it’s not guaranteed. It’s best to check with your doctor right away if you notice sudden thinning hair after being put on a new medication. On the other hand, steroids have been shown to greatly increase occurrences of permanent hair loss. Anabolic steroids boost the production of the hair loss-causing hormone, DHT.

Myth #13. If you are bald as born you will be bald too later.

That is a definite no. Sometimes your hair growing genes kicks in later a bit after birth. It has nothing to do with you getting bald later in life.

Myth #14. Taking medicines can increase my hair follicles.

You cannot increase the amount of hair follicles in your head. When you are born you have been predetermined with the number of hair follicles. However, you can move DHT resistant follicles from the side and back of your head to balding area.

Myth #15. You can’t cure hair loss.

Definitely untrue. There are many options available that can actually reduce and even reverse your hair loss condition. All you need to do is to find the right ones.

In the past, there were no effective treatments in sight for hair loss and hair thinning patients; the only solution was to cover up hair loss with hats and artificial hairpieces. Fortunately, there are many effective hair loss medications and treatments on today’s market!

Myth #16. Pouring alcohol on my head will help my hair to grow.

You wish. The only thing with pouring brandy on your head will do is to make you smell like a drunk.

Myth #17. Hair Transplant can’t give you a natural hairline.

Yes and No. Hair transplant has been around for decades. In the early years of Hair Transplantation, doctors used grafts of 8-20 hairs for implants. Such grafts make the hair looks like doll plugs. However, hair transplants have evolved so much with so many new methods and if you look for a qualified one today, you hair transplant can almost be totally undetectable.

Myth #18. Only intellectuals get hair loss.

Crazy! This is a funny hair loss myth indeed. There are actually more than 50% of people will suffer from hair loss in their lifetime. People from all sorts of race and class will get it. It doesn’t matter if you are smart or dumb. Hey but if you work too hard it my affect your hair. Read on about stress and hair loss.

Myth # 19. Brushing your hair is good for follicle stimulation.

Nope. The only thing too much brushing will do for your hair is split ends and breakage. Try not to brush too often. Some people have maintained that constant brushing increases scalp circulation and thus boosts hair growth. However, because alopecia is primarily caused by the presence of DHT and genetic predisposition rather than blood flow, hair brushing will have no positive effect on hair growth. Similarly, standing on your head might give you a head rush from the increased blood flow, but it won’t have any effect on your hair.

Myth # 20. You get your hair loss from your mother’s side.

Not entirely true. While the primary baldness gene is on the X chromosome, which men get only from their mothers, other factors are also in play. The hereditary factor is slightly more dominant on the woman’s side, but research suggests that men who have a bald father are more likely to develop male pattern baldness than those who don’t.

Myth #21. Loading up on carbohydrates can lead to hair loss.

Carbohydrates and red meat provide nutrients that are helpful for maintaining a full head of hair. Iron deficiency may be closely linked to hair loss. Treatment—like taking iron supplements—could restore growth.

Myth #22. Smoking causes hair loss.

True. Although this myth has been discounted in the past as being an unvalidated assumption, recent studies by research groups such as the British Medical Journal (BMJ) have found sufficient evidence to claim there is a significant link between smoking and hair loss. It’s still uncertain whether the connection is due to the effects of tobacco toxins, or the fact that smoking accelerates aging and other health problems.

My Personal Favorite Hair Loss Growth Myths!

The right hair treatment products can make my hair grow back in a week!
Ha. Ha. Ha. Of all hair loss myths, this is definitely the funniest! I fell for that one flat. Your hair will only grow HALF an INCH a month. Some supplements might help improve growth, but don’t expect to see any real results for at least half a year.
